Welcome to the membership page for Newtown Synagogue. Thank you for being interested in joining up in a formal sense! To understand the process see below. If you are an existing member, you can renew your membership here.

Becoming a member means you and yours will have named seats in the Shul, free seating for the High Holidays, a vote at the AGM, and you are supporting our Rabbi and the Synagogue in continuing to provide a space for meals, learning and fun.

Sign up

Anyone can become an associate member of the Synagogue. You simply need to sign up to the membership category that best describes you, pay the correct fee, and choose if you want to pay membership on a weekly, monthly or annual basis. Click here to join.

You're an associate member

Having paid the fee and filled in the form, you are an associate member of the Shul. We will contact you about where you prefer to sit, so we can put in a nameplate. There is no requirement to move to being a full member, and we are delighted that people take up the associate membership.

Becoming a Full Member

Being a full members means you can vote at the AGM, be married, and have a Bar / Bat Mitzvah at the Shul. Only Jewish people can be full members of Newtown Synagogue, and we require a Jewish Status Form issued by the Sydney Beth Din which the Board will then formally approve for full membership.

Get in for the High Holidays

As a friend of the Shul you will get seats for the High Holidays, charged at the discounted pensioner / student rate of $150 across the dates. You can become a friend by signing up and paying the fee.
